Wat Huai Tako is presumed to have been an ancient temple. Later, Phra Kru Sangkharat Paiboon Katapunyo, the current abbot of the present implemented the restoration of Wat Huai Tako as he was interested in Khmer art and got the idea to combine the art with the original style. The new hall under construction is built with the idea from Bannalai of Prasat Phanom Rung. He has been also trying to make Wat Huai Tako a learning center of the community with the spots providing knowledge such as the kiln spot to produce bricks for the construction of the pagoda, the Thai-pattern painting spot, etc.
